Autopsy of HIV+ donor videographed
Three days after the death of a 19-year-old blood donor of Kamuthi, Ramanathapuram district, autopsy was carried out in Madurai Government Rajaji Hospital (GRH) on Wednesday as per directions from Madurai Bench of Madras High Court. The entire proceedings were also videographed as per the direction, sources said.

Ramesh, the blood donor, died of poisoning at 8.10 am on December 30 in the GRH. On December 26, Ramesh attempted suicide by consuming rat killer paste after learning that his HIV infected blood was transfused into a 24-year-old pregnant woman of Sattur.
The mother of the deceased raised suspicion claiming that Ramesh responded well to treatment till the night before his death. According to S Shanmuga Sundaram, Dean (in-charge) of Madurai GRH, the autopsy on the body of Ramesh commenced at 2.30 pm and concluded at 3.55 pm. Later, the body was handed over to his parents.
Shanmuga Sundaram added that, with all safety measures essential for the body of a HIV+ patient, the autopsy was carried out by Selvaraj, Head, Department of Forensic Medicine Madurai Medical College along with doctor Juliana, Associate Professor of Forensic Medicine, Madurai Medical College, doctor Arunkumar Head of Forensic Medicine, Theni Medical College and doctor R Chandrasekar, Associate Professor of the same department and the same medical college in Theni.
