Sarath Kumar met Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and submitted a petition demanding the state government to look into the possibility of not banning plastics and going for recycling of plastics and to fight in the Supreme Court for the cracker industry.

After meeting the Chief Minister, Sarath Kumar while addressing the reporters, said, “This is the time to oppose the BJP. I will not be in the alliance in which BJP is a part of.” He also said that opposing the BJP does not mean that he will be joining hands with the DMK-Congress alliance.

When asked, why he is not joining the DMK alliance when he is opposing the BJP, he replied that he does not like the DMK and the approach of its president MK Stalin.

“We have to wait and see Stalin’s administrative capacities. Even if I oppose Prime Minister Narendra Modi, I will not call him sadist. Sadist is a strong word and he (Stalin) must be careful in selecting his words,” said Sarath Kumar. He further said that his party will contest alone in the Assembly and local body polls. “But as far as Parliamentary election is considered we will decide the alliance at the time of elections,” he added.
