The institution has filed an affidavit seeking examination of the medical records of former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa be done only by a panel of medical experts.

Highlighting ‘serious errors’, the affidavit said, “Words such as Intubation have been recorded as Incubation and words such as ‘Enterococcus’ bacteria have been recorded as ‘Endocarditis’ bacteria and several such errors that are fatal to the Hon’ble Commission’s own understanding of the facts and circumstances around the Late Chief Minister’s treatment have been repeatedly appearing.”

The plea submitted that the 30 volumes of medical records, consisting of close to 10,000 pages, and CDs, X-rays, EEG and ECG printouts be examined only by a medical board. “It is further submitted that there has been complete invasion of privacy of the late CM’S medical condition and private life that have resulted from the wide publicity given to her medical condition.” The affidavit also noted that failure in constituting a medical panel would cause ‘grave prejudice’ to the hospital and the several doctors, who were involved in the care and treatment of the late CM.

The hospital has also stated that the board should have 21 experts from across specialities including infectious diseases’ expert.
