TNCC president S Thirunavukkarasar has advised all district party presidents to organise meetings from January 2, a day before DMK chief M K Stalin inaugurates the aforesaid massive panchayat-level outreach programme in Tiruvarur.
The DMK has proposed to cover all 12,617 panchayats in the state by February 10. Party treasurer Duraimurugan and principal headquarters secretary T R Baalu would launch the programme in Erode and Kancheepuram respectively on January 3.
So much planning has gone into the “Go to people, inform the people and win the hearts of the people” initiative that the DMK high command has instructed its district units to only distribute the pamphlets exclusively designed by the headquarters for the programme.
Meanwhile, Stalin has asked the State government to suspend the laying of high-tension power lines through agricultural fields in 13 districts till an agreement is reached with farmers on the issue. The leader of opposition also advised the government to actively consider the suggestion of farmers that the EB transmission corridor be taken underground.
Urging the government to immediately pay the rent to famers on whose land the towers have already come up, Stalin said the project must be suspended till an amicable solution is reached with the farmers.
