Music, dance teachers to be appointed soon in Government District Music schools
Tamil Nadu government is taking efforts to engage folk artistes in all memorials of freedom fighters on a permanent basis.

Minister for Tamil Official Language and Tamil Culture K Pandiarajan said teachers of music and dance would be appointed in Government District Music schools in Tamil Nadu.
After attending a programme in ‘World Tamil Sangam’ in Madurai on Sunday, he said such appointment of faculty members would bring out the talents of youth and also create employment opportunities for them. Funds would be set aside for each of the districts to create ten artistes. Moreover, the government is taking efforts to engage folk artistes in all memorials of freedom fighters on a permanent basis. The corpus funds for ‘Kalai Kuzhu’ had been increased to Rs 3 crore from Rs 1 crore, he added.
Further, the Minister said efforts were on to merge departments of Tamil Development, Art and Culture, Museum, Archaeology and Handicrafts into a single department. Earlier, Madurai Collector S Natarajan, Madurai North MLA VV Rajan Chellappa and others attended the programme.
Revenue Minister talks ofretrieving Katchatheevu
Minister for Revenue and Disaster Management RB Udhayakumar after presiding over a bicycle rally in Thirumangalam, in Madurai district on Sunday said the Department of Revenue would also fight for the retrieval of Katchatheevu. While talking to reporters after taking part in the rally, the Minister said the much awaited AIIMS Hospital should be named after former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa since the hospital was her dream project. Responding to a query, he said the state government would not allow Sterlite to reopen against the interest of people.
