City, State likely to experience light rain in next 24 hours
A trough or low atmospheric pressure over southwest Bay of Bengal is likely to bring light to moderate rain across the state and thundershower in some places for the next two days. The city might experience light to moderate rainfall in the next 24 hours.

This season, the city has received only 352.6 mm of rainfall against the normal of 761.4 mm. It recorded a rainfall deficit of 54 per cent. For the same period, the State has registered a rainfall deficit of 22 per cent after receiving 331.4 mm of rainfall against the normal of 427.4 mm.
“Light to moderate rain or thundershower is likely in a few places in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry for the next two days. Further, the prevailing system will be moving west-northwestwards indicating that the rains will recede gradually in the midweek,” said a Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) official.
For the past 24 hours, the maximum rainfall of 4 cm was received at Anaikaranchatram in Nagapattinam district. Other places including Chidambaram, Sethiathoppu and Pamban received 3 cm of rainfall. While Rameswaram, Mannargudi and Kallakurichi has registered 2 cm of rainfall. Due to the prevailing conditions, an advisory cautioning the fishermen was issued on Sunday, owing to the strong winds from northeasterly direction with the speed of around 45 kmph along and off South Tamil Nadu coast.
In the next 48 hours, the city will witness an overcastsky. The maximum temperature is likely to be around 30 degree Celsius and the minimum temperature is likely to be around 22 degree Celsius.
