    11 injured as omnibus topples in Namakkal

    As many as 11 persons suffered injuries after an omnibus from Bangalore to Nagercoil toppled near Rasipuram in Namakkal district on Sunday morning.

    According to police, the omnibus with around 30 passengers was driven by Raju and he was accompanied by cleaner Murthy.


    “Around 3 am, the driver lost control, when it was heavily raining, and the bus ran berserk before getting toppled on Salem-Namakkal Road near Masakalipatty,” police added.


    In the mishap, BJP leader and Union Minister of State for Finance Pon Radhakrishnan’s close relatives identified by police as Agilambikai (42) and her daughter Navshika, 18 suffered injuries. The mother and daughter were admitted to a private hospital.


    They besides, Rahul (42), Sudhira (36), Madavi (30), Navya Sri (7), all from Andhra Pradesh also suffered injuries in the mishap. The public, who came, by the way, rescued the injured persons and sent them for treatment at Rasipuram Government Hospital. The Rasipuram police have registered a case and further investigations are on to establish the reason for the mishap.
