He also urged the Governor to relieve DGP T K Rajendran from the post since his name also allegedly figured in the scam. Raising doubts over the way the CBI investigated the case, Stalin said no one should be allowed to escape from due punishment.
“When certain persons who offered bribe are lodged in the prison, it is shocking to note Vijaya Baskar still continuing in the cabinet and Rajendran heading the police department, which is known for its honesty and fame,” the leader of opposition said.
Stating that Vijaya Baskar was questioned by the CBI several times, Stalin said it was based on his party’s demand the Apex Court has ordered a CBI probe into the scam.
“We will not hesitate again to move Supreme Court if proper action is not taken against those involved in the scam,” the DMK leader said.
Recalling the searches conducted by the CBI in connection with the scam, he said it (raids) has brought shame to the state. “Since the Chief Minister will not ask both Vijaya Baskar and Rajendran to step down from their respective posts, at least the Governor should take steps for their removal,” he said.
Meanwhile, a meeting of DMK MLAs and MPs has been called on December 24 at the party headquarters here to discuss the strategy to face the upcoming General Elections.
DMK district secretaries and Lok Sabha election coordinators will also take part in the meeting, which will be presided over by Stalin.
