TTV vows to teach DMK a lesson in Tiruvarur

Putting a brave face, digesting the fact that one of his trusted lieutenants was poached by the rival DMK, AMMK leader and RK Nagar MLA TTV Dhinakaran on Friday told reporters not to brush aside his fledgling party. “We are waiting for Tiruvarur bypolls to teach the DMK, a fitting lesson. Opposing the DMK is there in our blood,” Dhinakaran said.

Wishing good luck to former AMMK leader Senthil Balaji, who had joined the DMK along with his supporters based in Karur, Dhinakaran said he would have been happy, if Senthil Balaji had joined the AIADMK than joining the arch-rival DMK. “Senthil Balaji should remember that he had joined a party which lost deposit in RK Nagar due to the massive victory of AMMK. The grand reception to Senthil Balaji by the DMK shows the desperateness against the growing AMMK,” he added.

“Touching us is like handling a high voltage power and I am warning the DMK,” Dhinakaran said adding that his organisation was ready to face such poaching by the AIADMK and the DMK. Amma (Jayalalithaa) has trained me to handle political situations and we are waiting for the elections, he said.

To a query that his attack against the ruling BJP has come down in the recent past, Dhinakaran shot back saying that he made it very clear long back that the BJP will not win the elections. The BJP will again lose the 2019 Lok Sabha polls he said. Dhinakaran also denied that there are talks between the AMMK and the AIADMK for a merger.

When asked what went wrong between Karur AMMK strongman Senthil Balaji and him, Dhinakaran played down the query and said he had some personal problems four months ago, but none in the party expected him to leave. Even if others leave, AMMK will thrive due to its strong organisational set up muscled by grass root cadre of Amma. He also denied that a large chunk of AMMK functionaries have walked along with Senthil Balaji. Our Karur unit is still intact and there were about 89 posts, he added.

Later in the day, Dhinakaran appointed former minister P Palaniappan and party presidium chairman S Anbhazagan as the in-charge for the party affairs in Karur district.

In a statement Dhinakaran also appealed the Neyveli Lignite Corporation to drop the land acquisition proposal for its expansion. NLC has proposed to acquire 12,000 acres of farmland against the public wish, the statement read.
