2 electrocuted, MLA joins locals’ stir
Two persons were electrocuted in Pudukkottai district on Monday after they stepped on a live wire lying on the road.

Their relatives joined by the local MLA staged a protest against EB officials for restoring power supply in the cyclone-affected area without rectifying the snapped lines.
The incident happened when S Sakthivel (25) and his neighbour M Suseela (45) had gone to fetch water from a well near their house in Karuvankudiyiruppu. They suffered electrocution after touching a live wire lying on the ground.
Both died on the spot. On receiving information, relatives and neighbours joined by Alangudi MLA V Meyyanathan rushed to the spot and staged a road blockade on the Alangudi-Pudukkottai road.
They condemned the EB officials for restoring power supply without rectifying the snapped lines. They also demanded a compensation for family members of the victims.
