It is predicted that light to moderate rain or thundershower is likely to occur at isolated places over South Coastal Tamil Nadu on December 13.

Meanwhile, a new low-pressure area is likely to be formed over the equatorial Indian Ocean and South Bay of Bengal in the next 24 hours. Owing to this, an advisory has been issued to fishermen.

For the next 24 hours, fishermen are advised not to venture into the seas owing to squally weather with wind speed reaching 45 kmph likely to prevail over Equatorial Indian Ocean and the southeast Bay of Bengal.

“A trough of low now lies over Equatorial Indian Ocean and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal. Under its influence, a new system will be formed. It is likely to become more marked thereafter,” said an on-duty officer at RMC.

Further, the cyclonic circulation over Equatorial Indian Ocean and adjoining Southwest Bay of Bengal has become less marked.

Till Sunday, the State has received a total of 328 mm of rainfall against the normal of 392.9 mm. The city has received merely 343.4 mm against its normal 708.6 mm, which is 52 percent below the normal.
