BJP statepresident Tamilisai Soundararajan told reporters on Saturday that the “BJP will forge a strong alliance in Tamil Nadu ahead of next Lok Sabha polls.” The BJP wants to build the nation with constructive thoughts, but the opposition is involved in mudslinging, she added.

Terming the alliance of DMK – Congress front as a weak front in the state, Tamilisai said that the BJP will retain power under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

It may be noted that BJP national president Amit Shah, who visited Chennai two months ago, said that the party will begin it works and poll alliances in Tamil Nadu by November and the saffron party has been hunting for an alliance to take on the DMK- Congress combine.

Commenting on the Mekedatu row, Tamilisai said that the state will not allow the construction of the Mekedatu dam in Karnataka. The Centre has just given a nod to Karnataka to take up a detailed project report and this will not help the neighbouring state to construct a dam. Further, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is clear about the secular fundamentals of every state and the BJP will only ensure that there is no disparity among states in sharing Cauvery water.

The chairman of the Cauvery Water Management Authority had also conveyed that the construction of dam is not feasible without the consent of the authority. In my view this issue should not be politicised further. Reacting to Vaiko’s allegation that the BJP has done great injustice to Tamil Nadu on Cauvery, Tamilisai said that MDMK leader wants to play divisive politics for his personal gains.
