Gutkha scam: CBI grills aide of Health Minister
CBI officials investigating the multi-crore gutkha scam grilled Tamil Nadu Health Minister C Vijaya Baskar’s aide Saravanan for more than seven hours on Friday.

Though the investigation agency had filed preliminary charge sheet against six people, including 3 government officials who were arrested in September this year, the team of officials are believed to be looking to gather more evidence to strengthen the case. CBI has not ruled out the possibility of implicating ministers and top government officials in Tamil Nadu in the gutkha scam.
Based on disclosures by Saravanan during the interrogation on Friday, the CBI may summon Minister Vijaya Baskar, DGP T K Rajendran or former city Police Commissioner S George to take the case forward, sources said. Earlier, the CBI had raided the residences of the Minister and these officials after a diary was found with a person linked to gutkha trade.
