Who is Vaiko to block PM, asks Tamilisai
State BJP leaders reacted strongly to the criticism of opposition parties on the Centre’s permission for a DPR on Mekedatu dam. BJP state president Tamilisai Soundararajan hit back at MDMK general secretary Vaiko and DMK president MK Stalin for their adverse remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“The Centre has given its accord on Mekedatu only for the detailed project report (DPR). This is something like what the DMK did on methane issue. The permission is issued only for DPR and not for the construction of the dam,” Tamilisai told reporters.
Referring to DMK leader Stalin’s comment that the “lotus (BJP) can never bloom in Tamil Nadu where there is no water,” Tamilisai said, “If required the ponds will be filled through artificial rains to ensure that the lotus blooms.”
Reacting to the opposition parties, who are cynical about the PM, the BJP leader said MDMK leader Vaiko was making adverse comments against the PM and advised him to be cautious.
“Who is Vaiko to make a statement that he will not allow PM Modi to visit Tamil Nadu? Both the state BJP and the AIADMK government are clear that the Karnataka government should not be allowed to construct the new dam. And the state government is taking legal steps on the issue. Under such circumstances what is the need to protest against the BJP,” Tamilisai wondered.
