The flame, which was lit on November 23, burned continuously for 12 hours from 6 pm to 6 am every day and was put out at 6 am on Tuesday. Around 12 temple staff and a couple of devotees removed it and started the trek downhill.

The work to bring down the cauldron, which started around 8.15 am, was completed after four hours. After poojas, it was placed in the Thousand Pillar hall for darshan of the devotees. Devotees who provided ghee offerings will be given the paste (Mai) from the cauldron after the Arudhra Darshan which starts on December 23. Others will have to purchase it for a nominal amount, according to temple sources.
