Nirmala Devi case: CBI probe sought
All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) general secretary P Suganthi on Wednesday moved to the Madurai bench of Madras HC and filed a petition seeking transfer of audio tape leak case concerning Nirmala Devi, former assistant professor in a private college, in Aruppukottai to Central Bureau of Investigation.

Nirmala Devi has been facing trial on charges of luring college girls to extend some favours for the top officials in Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU). Along with Nirmala, S Karuppasamy, former research scholar of the MKU and V Murugan, former assistant professor of the University was also facing trial in connection with the audio tape leak case.
The petitioner also stated that, the inquiry conducted by the CB-CID was not fair and they have framed the final charge sheet, which was submitted to Srivilliputhur court.
Based on this, the petitioner further requested to bring the truth behind the case and requested the court to transfer the case to CBI adding, until then, bench should order an interim stay on prosecution in the Srivilliputhur court. After hearing the arguments, a division bench of Justices KK Sasidharan and PD Audikesavalu directed the Srivilliputhur Mahila Court Judge to submit the final charge sheet copy filed by the CB-CID, in a sealed cover before December 3 andadjourned the case toDecember 10.
