Age limit extended for NEET 2019, says SC
However, the admission of the candidates is subject to the final outcome of the case on validity of CBSE's decision.
Chennai
The Supreme Court on Thursday, allowed undergraduate medical students of age 25 or above to appear for NEET 2019. The SC bench, however, said that their admission will be subjected to the final outcome of the case on validity of CBSE's decision to fix upper age limit.
The age limit for unreserved category is capped at 25 years whereas for the reserved category candidates the age limit is now 30 years. The verdict comes in response to the Public Interest Litigation filed against the erstwhile age limit of the students writing the national medical exam.
The apex court also extended the deadline for the submission of the applications to one week for the students in the cyclone Gaja hit areas. The last date to submit the applications earlier was November 30. The extension of deadline comes in response to a letter by the government of Tamil Nadu.Â
