Property dispute rivals clash with arms, spark tension in Salem court

According to police, Thangavel from Saminaickenpatty had a dispute over a piece of ancestral land along with his two brothers Ayyanar and Parameshwaran. “The brothers had moved the court over a property dispute. The case, which came up for hearing on Monday, was adjourned by the court,” police added.

Police added that Thangavel and Ayyanar, who came with their sons had a wordy altercation claiming authority over the 13 cents of land in dispute. The war of words snowballed into a fight with the rival family members clashing with each other with sickles.

During which, four persons suffered serious injuries and were rushed to Salem Government Hospital for treatment. One of the men involved in the clash swooned at the spot.

On receiving information, the Asthampatty police rushed to the spot, but by then the assailants fled away. The Asthampatty police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the culprits.
