Man, wife, son held for Cheyyar farmer’s murder
A family of three was arrested in connection with the murder of a farmer, near Cheyyar, in the early hours of Friday. It may be recalled that Vinayagamurthy (35), a farmer, was found dead in his neighbour’s field four days ago.

Police arrested Srinivasan on Thursday, the owner of the farmland, who went absconding after the death of Vinayagamurthy. During interrogations, Srinivasan confessed to the police that he killed Vinayagamurthy with a crowbar after a heated argument over the rights of a water channel. Police also arrested Umashankari, wife of Srinivasan, and son Manikandan, for hiding the murder. All the three were lodged in Cheyyar court.
