Low-pressure area moves to interior TN, expect more rainfall in 24 hours
Interior parts of Tamil Nadu will continue to receive rainfall over the next 24 hours, thanks to a well-marked low-pressure area over southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal Tamil Nadu that has turned into a low-pressure area and moved to interior Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

S Balachandran, the deputy director general of the Regional Meteorological Centre, said, “This system will bring moderate rain or thundershower at many places over North interior Tamil Nadu. Light to moderate rain or thundershower is likely to occur at a few places over rest of the state.”
On Thursday, the RMC predicted heavy to very heavy rain in isolated places over 11 districts including Villupuram, Kanchipuram, Tiruvannamalai, Namakkal, Salem, Karur, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Vellore, Erode and Nilgiris districts.
But, no special advisory was issued to the fishermen.
The maximum amount of rainfall was recorded in Cholavaram and Madavaram of 12 cm each. Other districts Venur (Villupuram district) and Red Hills (Thiruvallur district) received 11 cm of rainfall, Ponneri (10 cm). Other places including Chennai (North), DGP office (Chennai district), Marakkanam (Villupuram district), Tindivanam (Villupuram disrict) and Chennai AP (Kancheepuram district) received 9 cm each.
In the last 24 hours, the total amount of rainfall recorded in Nungambakkam and Meenambakkam was 9 cm each.
The maximum temperature in the city will be 30 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature will be 24 degrees Celsius.
