    Two succumb to swine flu in Kovai

    Two more persons including a woman and a one-year-old girl succumbed to swine flu and dengue at Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) on Tuesday night.

    A few days ago, Nagamani (47), wife of Saravanamurthy from P&T Colony in Kavundampalayam was down with severe fever and was admitted to a private hospital for treatment. 

    As her health condition worsened, Nagamani was shifted to CMCH, where she was diagnosed with being affected by swine flu. Despite intensive treatment, she died on Tuesday night. 

    Mithra (1), daughter of Manikandan from Sivananda Colony had fever for the past few days. The child was brought to CMCH and a blood test revealed her to be suffering from dengue. Mithra was given round the clock treatment at the hospital. However, the girl succumbed to flu on Tuesday night. 

    In Salem, Rajambal (72), a former MLA from Thalaivasal constituency and her husband C Vaiyapuri (80), who is the president of United Farmers Association-Tamil Nadu were admitted in Salem Government Hospital with symptoms of swine flu. 

    Around 17 persons are undergoing treatment for swine flu and about 90 persons for fever in Salem GH. Many others were hospitalised in government hospitals at Attur, Omalur, Mettur and Edappadi areas for swine flu and fever. 

    Similarly, in CMCH, of the total of 108 persons, 48 for swine flu, 4 for dengue and 56 for viral fever were undergoing treatment.
