According to police, Subash, 48, the state youth wing president of Akhil Bharat Hindu Maha Sabha along with his wife Kavipriya and two children were at their house at Andal Avenue near Thudiyalur, when miscreants hurled petrol bombs.
On hearing the blast, neighbours had alerted Subash and his family members, who were fast asleep.
On receiving information, the rural police arrived and held inquiries and gathered the pieces of broken glass from the spot. Police suspect two petrol bombs might have been hurled by miscreants. One of the bombs landed on the front wall, while another on the door of the house. Police are collecting images recorded in CCTV cameras fixed in the neighbourhood to trace out the culprits.
The petrol bomb attack has sent shock waves as many leaders of Hindu outfits were targeted in a similarly earlier by miscreants. In April, miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at the residence of Dhanapal, 30, vice president (Mettupalayam Town) of Hindu Munnani at Perumal LayOut. A small portion of the car’s cover was burnt during the incident. A bike parked nearby also was damaged,” police said.
In a similar incident, petrol bombs were hurled on a sports utility vehicle (SUV) of BJP district president CR Nandakumar at Ramalakshmi Nagar in Peelamedu area, in which the car was burnt.
