Stalin fails to keep date with M Karunanidhi statue
Unable to honour his promise of erecting a statue of his late father and mentor M Karunanidhi at Anna Arivalayam on the 100th day of the latter’s death, DMK president M K Stalin on Wednesday paid floral tributes at Karunanidhi’s memorial on the Marina and urged his cadre to take a vow to unseat the AIADMK government.

Writing in the party organ Murasoli, Stalin said the cadre should take a vow to strive and defeat the ruling AIADMK, which plunders the state exchequer and the communal BJP which has been destabilising the country’s economy by making false promises.
The DMK has earlier announced that it would unveil the statue of Karunanidhi on Wednesday, which marks the 100th day of Karunanidhi’s demise. The DMK had even proposed to bring national leaders for the statue unveiling, which has missed the scheduled date, owing to state government’s inaction on the principal opposition party’s request to erect the statue on the OSR land in Arivalayam.
Later in the day, Stalin, speaking at a wedding event, said, “Modi does not like socialism, democracy and secularism. His thoughts are about (industrialists) Adani and Ambani. We have heard about a non-resident Indian, but Modi is the non-resident prime minister.”
