Sources said, B Jayan (49), a TNSTC driver, who was drunk, entered the school reportedly with a motive to assault correspondent Rajesh. As Rajesh was not present in his cabin, he attacked two Class 12 girl students with a sickle. Even after this, Jayan continued with his rampage and smashed the front windscreen of three school buses and a window pane at the office room. He also stabbed Sudhir (48), a passer-by, on his stomach.

While the injured Class 12 students S Varsha (17), N Nanthini (17), underwent treatment at a private hospital in Samiyarmedu, Sudhir has been admitted to a private hospital in Marthandam, sources told.

After inquiry, Kanyakumari SP N Sreenatha said that a running dispute over property between Jayan and his sister, Jeyashri, who lived in Thiruvananthapuram, seems to be reason for Jayan’s act. Rajesh acted in favour of Jeyashri in the property dispute. Irked over this, Jayan went on to attack Rajesh in the school. Arumunai Police registered cases against Jayan and arrested him.
