Leaders term Superstar’s remark on seven convicts’ release insensitive
Actor Rajinikanth was lambasted by state politicians on Tuesday for his comments on seven convicts in Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.
Chennai
VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan said, “I was shocked at the statement of Rajinikanth expressing his ignorance on one of the key issues in the state. A man with the dreams of becoming Chief Minister ought to know the key developments in the state.”
Rajinikanth came under the scanner of politicians when he said that he had no idea who the seven convicts in Rajiv Gandhi assassination case were, when questioned by reporters on Monday. He was criticised for being insensitive towards the issue and supporting the
BJP indirectly.
Thirumavalavan lashed out at Rajinikanth by saying that the BJP is opposed by large number of political parties not because the party is strong but it is dangerous.
Tamizhaga Vazhvurimai Katchi leader Velmurugan too criticised Rajinikanth by calling him insensitive towards Tamil people. “When he does not know the seven convicts in Rajiv assassination case how will he know the problems of seven crore Tamil people,” he questioned.
Velmurugan also said that Rajinikanth “claims that he lived for 45 years in the state and is a hardcore Tamilian but it is sad to know that he has no idea on seven Rajiv convicts.”
He added, “Even in the past Rajinikanth was silent on some of the key issues affecting the people of Tamil Nadu.”
Director Gowthaman, who recently floated a political party, said that he was in fear that he might be eliminated from politics and so came out with another press meet on Tuesday to explain his stand. He also accused the BJP of remote controlling Rajinikanth.
“He (Rajinikanth) fears BJP and so came out with an explanation to defend the party as he is operated by it,” said Gowthaman.
