However, the AICC secretary in-charge of 37 southern party districts in the state said the apportionment of seats was in the realm of national leaders and his job was only to strengthen the organisation at the grass roots. He was asked about lack of party strength on field being a deterrent to the party in securing more seats from a belligerent DMK during the Lok Sabah seat sharing talks.

On infighting affecting the state Congress unit perennially, the AICC in-charge of the state said that it was a sign of democracy in the Congress where people are free to air their views, unlike in the BJP where only Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party president Amit Shah were entitled to an opinion.

The Congress leader from Maharashtra claimed that even Finance Minister Arun Jaitley was unaware that demonetisation was being announced by the PM till it was done. Dutt, who visited DMK president MK Stalin earlier in the day, admitted to discussing the political situation in the state and said that he sensed rejuvenation in Tamil Nadu Congress across the state.

He also said that he has given an action plan to the party district presidents to prepare for the ensuing Lok Sabha polls and Congress chief Rahul Gandhi was being updated regularly onthe progress of party works and the action plan given to the party functionaries in the state.
