Class 2 girl abused, AIADMK man held

According to police, Meeran Maydeen was the correspondent of Quaid-E-Millath middle school at Alwarthope in Tiruchy. Since Meeran Mydeen was ill, Saleem (50), an AIADMK circle secretary, was functioning as the correspondent in-charge.

It is said that for the past few days, Saleem took a Class 2 girl to his room and sexually assaulted her. He threatened her not to tell about the incident to anyone.

On Thursday evening also, Saleem took the girl and sexually assault her, but, after reaching home, the girl informed the act of Saleem to her mother.

Following this, the victim’s mother along with relatives rushed to the school on Friday morning and confronted Saleem, who reportedly threatened and assaulted them.

Angered by this, the girl’s relatives along with the neighbours retaliated and later handed Saleem over to the police. Acting on a complaint from the girl’s mother, police commenced the investigation and found that the allegations against Saleem were true.

A case under POCSO Act was registered against Saleem, who was arrested and produced before a local court. Subsequently, he was lodged in the prison.
