Dean Dr Anitha on Thursday held talks with the agitating house surgeons and assured them of sorting out their grievances soon.

According to the protesting surgeons, the senior nurses on duty refuse to provide them with safety gloves and masks during their working hours and this has led to mental stress for them. Moreover, recently a girl student had attempted suicide being unable to cope up with the prevailing ‘anti-student’ situation in the government hospital.

They further said that the nurses ask the house surgeons to do works that are assigned to the nurses. “We are forced by these nurses to do their works and even their assistants’. If we ask them to provide us with gloves and masks to attend to the patients, they simply say they don’t have any in stock, with an intention to avoid our needs,” one of the agitating students asserted.

Moreover, the nurses allegedly asked the house surgeons to provide them with Rs 1,000 per month for no reason. “We brought all these matters to Dean Dr Anitha’s notice several times but no action was initiated,” they said.

On information, Dean Anitha held talks with the agitating students and assured them that their grievances will be sorted out them soon. Still, the students sent a petition to the Health Minister and the Health Secretary explaining their situation.
