Dialogues intended to defame Jaya: Ministers

“The movie dialogues are intended to defame Jayalalithaa. If the controversial dialogues are not removed, Amma Peravai cadres are ready to even kill themselves,” said state revenue minister RB Udayakumar.

He added that the dialogues have been framed to make profits. Films are business-oriented, but the actors cannot say anything they wish for the sake of profit and business, he added.

Echoing him, Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar alleged that it has become fashionable for actors to pass negative comments about leaders these days. “If Vijay had mouthed these dialogues when Jayalalithaa was alive, I would have appreciated him. But he was scared at that point of time. Coming out to criticise her after her death is a bad attitude according to me,” said Jayakumar.

Not all actors who criticise the government can become MGR – the charismatic actor turned politician who floated the AIADMK and remained the chief minister till his death – he added.

Higher Education Minister K P Anbazhagan, too, joined colleagues to hit out at Vijay for criticising government schemes. “Higher Education Department is issuing 14 materials and equipment that help uplift the poor families free of cost. Belittling these government schemes, which has brought about a good name for the government, as freebies is unacceptable,” said Anbazhagan.

But, Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam leader TTV Dhinakaran ridiculed the ministers, charging them of giving free publicity to Sarkar by taking up the cudgels.
