Demonetisation protest: TNCC delays party meeting
The Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) has deferred a meeting of its office bearers scheduled for Friday (November 9) due to the nationwide demonstration being organised by the party to mark the second year anniversary of demonetisation announced by the ruling BJP in 2016.
Chennai
State Congress president S Thirunavukkarasar on Wednesday issued a statement announcing that the meeting of office bearers of northern districts would now be held on November 12.
He said the meeting has been postponed owing to the demonstration to be held in front of the district collectorate here under his leadership.
Claiming that the country has been facing a serious economic disaster because of the move announced autocratically by the PM, Thirunavukkarasar said the fundamentals of Indian economy like rural economy, MSMEs and agriculture have been completely ruined.
Stating that there is only a trace of economic growth in the country, the TNCC chief said people want to know from the Prime Minister if black money and terrorism have been eliminated.
Claiming that there was a strong wave against the Narendra Modi government, Thirunavukkarasar said people have started voicing their opinion publicly against the Prime Minister and added that the public anger would bring down the incumbent government.
