Revoke dismissal of agri student, says legal aid committee
The case of a college second-year girl student of government agriculture college at Vazhavachanur in Tiruvannamalai district, has again hit the news as the district legal aid committee has reportedly recommended the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) to revoke the dismissal and re-admit her.
Tiruvannamalai
The girl some weeks back levelled allegations of sexual harassment by a staff following which a male assistant professor was suspended, while two other women assistant professors were transferred.
The student was also transferred to the Anbil Dharmalingam Agricultural College and Research Institute in Tiruchy. But, she refused to receive the order, so it was pasted on the college notice board with an October 1 deadline for her to join the Tiruchy college. As the girl did not join the Trichy college, she was dismissed by TNAU.
The student later handed over a petition to the Tiruvannamalai legal aid committee stating that she refused to move to Tiruchy due to safety reasons. She also requested to allow her to join TNAU, Coimbatore.
District judge and legal aid committee chairman after perusing her petition recommended that the girl’s dismissal order to be cancelled and she be allowed to join TNAU Coimbatore.
