As the General Elections will be held next year, vice chancellors and principals of the college have given instructions that students should come forward and enrol as voter to obtain voter-ID.

Accordingly, the educational institutions will be tying up with the Election Commission authorities to conduct special camps for the students, who were not enrolled in the voter’s list, so that they would be eligible to exercise their franchise in the coming Parliament elections.

Students from National Social Service (NSS) and National Cadet Corps (NCC) will also help their respective school management for organising the camp.

A senior spokesperson from Anna University said that after collecting all the details, the management will announce the date of the special camp after consulting with the Election Commission officials here. “Even outstation students could also enrol themselves to get voter-ID in the camp,” the university staff said. According to him, the students could also apply for correction of their names and age on the voter list.
