After AMMK leader TTV Dhinakaran announced that the 18 MLAs were ready to face the election, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and the Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam met the coordinators of the 20 constituencies ahead of the by-election.

“The Election Commission is bound to fill the vacancy within six months and we will take a decision after going through the report from Tamil Nadu Public Elections Department,” Chief Election Commissioner OP Rawat said. Meanwhile, the Public Election Department officials in TN apprised the EC about the Madras HC order.

AMMK founder and leader TTV Dhinakaran said that he will not appeal in the Supreme Court against the 18 MLAs disqualification case rather will contest in the upcoming elections while addressing the press at Madurai.
“We have decided to reach out to the public. AMMK will sweep all the vacant 20 seats. The eight crore TN voters will determine who is the real force of Tamil Nadu, as they did in RK Nagar,” Dhinakaran had earlier said.
According to AMMK sources, most of the disqualified MLAs were upset with the court proceedings dragging on for months and unanimously expressed that the AIADMK was trying to buy time through legal proceedings.
