Chennai
Amma Makkal Munatra Kazhagam leader Thanga Tamil Selvan on Saturday while addressing the reporters in Madurai said that by-election wouldn’t be conducted for the 18 constituencies anytime soon.
The AMMK leader was in Madurai to submit a petition in IG office regarding the case against his party members in connection with AIADMK banners tearing. It is unjust that police have arrested 53 members of the AMMK.
AMMK founder and leader TTV Dhinakaran had earlier said that he will not appeal in the Supreme Court against the disqualification of 18 MLAs, rather will contest in the upcoming elections while addressing the press at Madurai.
Dhinakaran also condemned the arrest of his party members for allegedly tearing the banners put up by AIADMK during Thevar jayanthi celebration. He added that the AMMK has decided unanimously not to appeal in the Supreme Court against the High Court verdict on disqualification of 18 MLAs. He said that he decided to take on the AIADMK before the court of people.
