After cash seizure, Aavin GM suspended
DVAC seized a whopping Rs 11 lakh from car of milk society’s top official.
Vellore
The General Manager (in-charge) of Vellore and Tiruvannamalai Districts Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union KS Murali Prasad has been suspended following the seizure of unaccounted cash to the tune of Rs 11 lakh from his office car by DVAC a couple of days ago.
The total cash seized by the DVAC on that day was Rs 14.85 lakh. While Rs 11 lakh was seized from Murali Prasad’s car, another Rs 2.85 lakh was seized from Sekar, a milk union employee and Rs 1 lakh from a garden. The amount seized by the DVAC from his office was reportedly the highest among the cash recovered from various government offices during state-wide raid conducted by the DVAC on that day. The office in Tiruvannamalai was the only Aavin premises to be raided during the statewide operation. Sources alleged that Murali Prasad had demanded a 35 per cent commission to disburse arrears amount of Rs 34 lakh sanctioned by the Aavin board for eleven employees over five years.
V Kothandaraman, deputy manager of the Vellore union’s Ambur unit, has been named GM in-charge following Murali Prasad’s suspension. Vigilance officials said no officials were arrested as the raid was based on a tip off. Inquiries are on.
