    Rain is likely to play a spoilsport during Deepavali as weatherman have forecasted that a low-pressure area is likely to develop over the southern part of Bay of Bengal around November 6.

    The meteorological department has also said heavy rains are expected across several places in Tamil Nadu for the next two days, while Chennai will have overcast sky conditions with light or moderate rain. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 32 and 24 degrees Celsius respectively in the city.


    According to a Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) official, the cyclonic circulation over southeast Arabian sea, which has been causing rainfall in parts of TN, now lies over east-central Arabian Sea and adjoining coastal Karnataka. The State is likely to be under a wet spell during the next 10 days because of successive weather systems, with all of them likely to move in westerly direction towards Tamil Nadu coast, the official added.


    The northeast monsoon, which has commenced over the coastal areas, has spread to the remaining parts of TN and north Kerala, besides adjoining areas of south interior Karnataka and Rayalaseema, on Friday.
