The DMK leader also said that during the meeting with Naidu at New Delhi, Rahul Gandhi’s remarks that all Opposition parties should join together to oust the BJP was very important.

Stalin seconded Naidu’s statement that “it (all the opposition parties joining together) is a democratic compulsion to protect the nation.”

Stalin said as BJP government was out to destroy the states’ economy, all the likeminded opposition parties should come together to defeat the saffron party in the Centre.

“Corrupt, autocratic and divisive forces are destroying the democratic fabric of our country. It is the need of the hour for all non-BJP parties to come together on a common platform,” Stalin said adding “I congratulate him (Rahul Gandhi) for initiating steps towards this. They have my support.”

Recently, the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president Su Thirunavukkarasar also said that his party’s alliance with the DMK is intact and it will continue. The Congress leader made it clear that his party would consult the DMK before taking any decision to ally with other parties for the Lok Sabha polls.

Telugu Desam Party chief Chandrababu Naidu has been attempting to unite the opposition parties to take on the BJP in the general elections next year.
