VCK will not contest bypolls, says Thirumavalavan

Speaking to reporters in Ariyalur, the VCK leader said: “As and when the bypolls are conducted, the DMK-led front will emerge victorious in all the 20 constituencies. We will not contest in any of the seats. The VCK shall accept any decision taken by the DMK.”

“However, there is a feeling among opposition parties that the State government fears facing the people at the bypolls,” Thirumavalavan said.

On the newly-inaugurated statue of Sardar Vallabhai Patel erected at an estimated cost of Rs 3,000 crore, the VCK leader said the huge amount could have been utilised in alleviating poverty.

“This is a kind of ridiculing those living below the poverty line, a segment which constitutes a substantial number in the country. There are several crore people living without even one meal a day,” he charged.

Thirumavalavan called upon the people who fight for democracy to come out and stage protest. He also urged the investigating authorities to nab the real accused in the Nirmala Devi case.
