M Veerappan (30) had gone to work in a salon in Malaysia last year, said his mother, Indira of Enathi village.

Veerappan was allegedly threatened by his co-workers and he had informed the owner about this. Thereafter, he was taken captive and was ‘tortured’ by the owner, who claimed that he had stolen cash equal to Rs 2 lakh. They also reportedly demanded Rs 2 lakh from his mother to release him.

Since the Collector was not present, RDO Sakthivel received the petition and assured of action within two days. Meanwhile, Veerappan uploaded his photographs on social media and called out for help. He also narrated the entire episode and appealed to the Collector to save him.
