Dengue care: DMK to hold health camps

DMK president MK Stalin asked the party’s medical wing to create awareness among people about the infectious disease of the tropics transmitted by mosquitoes. Alleging that the AIADMK government has not taken any steps to prevent dengue, Stalin said the authorities should take immediate steps to treat those affected. 

Claiming that dengue and H1N1 have claimed 13 lives in the State so far, the DMK leader said public health centres were not equipped to tackle both dengue and H1N1.

“So far, no precautionary measures have been taken by the government,” he said and pointed out that in Chennai a twin brother and sister died.

“The government has not even conducted health camps,” he said. “Instead of taking steps to control the spread of the disease, both Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and Health Minister C Vlijayabaskar are engaged in the AIADMK party anniversary celebrations,” he said.

“As there is no point in believing the AIADMK government, I appeal to the DMK party’s medical wing members to organise health camps and supply medicines to the affected people in their respective areas,” Stalin said. Urging his party members to meet people and spread awareness about the disease and its effects, Stalin also asked his partymen to inform the public about the need to keep their surroundings clean.
