90 per cent work for party over, but no b’day launch: Rajinikanth
Putting all speculations to rest, superstar Rajinikanth on Saturday made it clear that he had no plans to launch his party on December 12, the actor’s birthday. However, he informed that 90 per cent ground work for the formation of his political party was over.
Chennai
Rajinikanth, who returned to Chennai after completing the shooting for the latest schedule of his upcoming film Pettai, said, “The name of the political party and the party flag will be announced at an appropriate time.” The actor also said he would reveal his stand once the dates of Lok Sabha poll were announced.
It was reported that on his return Rajinikanth was expected to oversee the planning for the launch of his party at Tiruchy. But with Saturday’s statement, the wait for the formal announcement extends to almost a year since Rajinikanth’s signalling of intent to enter politics.
When asked about the #MeToo movement that has sent ripples across several industries, including media and film industry, the 67-year-old actor said that this was a good movement to ensure safety of women, but it should not be misused.
When asked for his reply on the allegations against lyricist Vairamuthu, he said, “He has denied the allegations, right? He says he didn’t do what he’s been accused of and that he has proof, so it’s better to take it up legally.”
‘Petta Paraak’
During the interaction with the media reporters, a scribe asked the actor to reveal a punchline from his movie ‘Petta’, which was under production. In his own typical style, Rajinikanth said, “Petta Paraak”. There were laughs and cheers all round.
