3rd in a week: AI flight hit by snag in Tiruchy
There seems to be no end to issues faced Air India Express, as a Dubai-bound aircraft with 82 passengers on board was delayed due to a technical snag that was detected before entering the runway at Tiruchy International Airport on Wednesday morning. This is the third time in this week, the official carrier is facing a problem in Tiruchy.

However, the flight departed to Dubai later in the evening, but with just eight passengers after the issue was rectified. The aircraft, which was moved out of the apron of the airport, was detected with technical issues and the airline officials decided to cancel the flight at 1.20 am on Wednesday, said sources. Subsequently, 60 passengers were accommodated in another flight of Air India bound for Sharjah and it took off at 3.20 am. Twelve passengers cancelled their trip.
Passengers, who came to know about the snag, turned little anxious as the government-run carrier in Tiruchy was facing snags frequently.
While the frequent fliers claim that the Air India Express is their last choice, travel agents have also witnessed poor patronage after the recent incidents. “Our customers are reluctant to choose the government-run airlines. We also receive complaints regarding their poor service,” said a travel agent. He added that the frequent cancellation of services would certainly damage the reputation of Air India.
