The student had complained to district judge G Maghizhendhi that she was sexually harassed by an assistant professor. Following this, inquiries were held by the disciplinary committee of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) and also by Tiruvannamalai Additional Superintendent of Police.

On Friday, the police filed a case against the college principal Rajendran, assistant professors – Thangapandian, Punitha and Mythili – and two students who allegedly helped their teachers in this regard. Sources said the that case was filed due to the political pressure after opposition parties threatened to siege the institution in protest.

Earlier, following the internal inquiry, assistant professor Thangapandian was suspended, while the two women faculty, Mythili and Punitha, were shifted to other agricultural institutions. The victim was also transferred to the agricultural college at Tiruchy. However, as she refused to obey the transfer order before the October 1 deadline, she was dismissed from the college.
