2 non-stop buses between Chennai and Vellore
Commercial taxes minister KC Veeramani flagged of eight new buses from the new bus stand at Vellore to various destinations, including Chennai, on Thursday.

Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami inaugurated 471 buses, including 12 for Vellore, at Chennai on Wednesday.Â
On Thursday, Veeramani in the presence of labour minister Nilofer Khafeel and Collector SA Raman flagged of the 8 out of the 12 buses provided for the Vellore region.Â
Of the eight, two buses, which will be non-stop and without conductors, will run between Chennai and Vellore and another between Vellore and Tirupatthur. Some of the remaining buses will be operated between different cities and towns via Vellore.
Lift for Katpadi rly station
During the day, the minister also inaugurated an elevator at the Katpadi railway station.Â
The facility was set up at Rs 35 lakh under the MP’s constituency development fund sanctioned by Arakkonam Parliamentarian G Hari. Railway officials added that another escalator under construction would be operated from December.
