Ex-MP bats for govt support to Pushkaram
State Government should conduct the Tamirabarani Pushkaram as it is an occasion during which devotees from across the nation would gather in Tirunelveli, said Coir board chairman CP Radhakrishnan on Monday.

Referring to the meeting between Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Radhakrishnan, who was here to participate in a function organised to flag off the Pushkaram Awareness Rath Yatra.
The yatra carried the holy water from Krishna river, said that there was no politics involved.
Commenting on Governor Banwarilal Purohit’s statement about corruption in appointment of VCs, he said that this has happened in earlier regimes too.
When asked about the election commission not announcing bypolls for Tiruparankundram and Tiruvarur assembly constituencies, he said that the Central Government could not be blamed for this.
Regarding the performance of coir board, he said, “Rs 2,535 crore was spent by the board for various activities over the last four years and half of this amount was spent for Tamil Nadu.”
The yatra was flagged-off by Sri Narayani Temple head Sakthi Amma.
