VC issue: DMK asks Governor to act, not just talk
eader of Opposition MK Stalin has urged Governor Banwarilal Purohit to initiate action against Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and state Higher Education Minister KP Anbalagan if he were serious about preventing corruption in the incumbent regime. Stalin has demanded action after the Governor publicly alleged corruption in appointment of vice-chancellors to the state universities.

Remarking that it would do no good to the state if the Governor, who is clothed in enormous powers, merely makes public statements, the DMK president said that Purohit should immediately take action against the CM and the Minister concerned if he was really worried about eliminating corruption in the incumbent regime.
Recalling the corruption complaints his party had levelled against various AIADMK Ministers, including the Chief Minister so far, Stalin urged the Governor to immediately sack the CM, his deputy O Panneerselvam and Ministers Vijaya Baskar, Thangamani and Velumani.
Expressing dismay at the Governor only raking up V-C appointment issue after completing a year at the Raj Bhavan, the DMK president also criticised the Governor for being a mute spectator to other corruptions of the AIADMK regime.
Earlier, he extended his support to the state conference being organised by the TMMK to protect the Constitution and said the meet would be a clarion call from the state to defeat the fascist BJP.
Stalin floored by Mari Selvaraj’s movie
Debutant director Mari Selvaraj’s movie Pariyerum Perumal, which has been winning rave reviews from movie buffs and litterateurs equally alike, has floored DMK president MK Stalin. Stalin, who watched the movie with his family and former union minister A Raja in the city on Friday, gave all aces to Selvaraj’s maiden venture produced by Director Pa Ranjith. Emerging out of the theater, where he had cared to personally appreciate the producer-director combo, he was quoted by the DMK PR managers as telling them that, “I have watched an emotionally charged movie after long. Kalaignar would have appreciated the movie, if he were alive.” Not content with the personal appreciation, Stalin took to Twitter to shower encomiums on the movie stated to be a near realistic documentation of horrors of caste discrimination in the state. “I watched Pariyerum Perumal. The movie taught me that we need more Periyars, Ambedkars, Annas and Kalaignars.”
