Hotel association members to get tips on waste, e-commerce
The Tamil Nadu Hotels Association (TNHA) plans to equip its members with knowledge in waste management and e-commerce.
Vellore
According to TNHA president M Venkadasubbu, the initiative is aimed at imparting the required skills on hotel managements to enable them to operate successfully.
“The managements will be exposed to e-commerce, source segregation methods and administrative reforms, which can help them sustain in today’s competitive market,” he added.
The initiative is part of a two-day meeting, which began in Madurai on Thursday.
It is being organised in collaboration with hotel associations in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
Though the initial plan was to make this a high-profile event by inviting the Chief Ministers of all three states, it was toned down as the CMs had prior commitments, Venkadasubbu said.
“While the general meeting will be attended by nearly 1,000 invitees, we expect the participation of more than 300 members in the knowledge sessions,” he added.
“A major challenge for us is garbage disposal. The authorities want us to segregate the waste at source before disposal. But this is difficult as most hotels are on rented premises where there is no space for source segregation,” said K S Udayashanker, an Executive Council member from Vellore.
