Bharathi had complained against BJP national secretary H Raja for his derogatory remarks on HR&CE staff, following which the police registered case against the BJP leader under various sections.
On Friday morning, Bharathi received a phone call on his land line number in which a male caller reportedly threatened him of dire consequences for his complaint against Raja. The caller also called Bharathi a ‘anti-national’.
Subsequently, Bharathi passed on the information to the Ganesh Nagar police and sought police protection.
Meanwhile, the Thanjavur South police registered a case against Raja under five sections on Friday, based on a complaint by Kannan, general secretary of HR&CE employees union.
H Raja booked for controversial remarks
The Erode police on Friday registered a case against Raja for stating that the statues of social reformer EV Ramasamy (Periyar) need to be razed down.
Earlier in March this year, the BJP leader in a Facebook post said the Dravidian icon’s statue needs to be demolished like that of the communist leader Lenin in Tripura. Though no case was registered then, Raja was booked on Friday under IPC sections 159 (affray) and 505 (statements conducing to public mischief). Cases have been registered at both Erode Town police station and in Karungalpalayam police station.
