Speaking at an cleanliness awareness event at Perambalur bus stand, Purohit urged the public and the shop keepers to keep their surroundings clean and tidy.
“Once you reach home, ensure that your house is clean. Work to maintain the entire district clean. When you maintain the surroundings clean, you will not be exposed to dangerous diseases like cholera, malaria and dengue. It then would help to reduce your medical expenses up to 50 per cent,” he said.
Later, Purohit administered the cleanliness oath and distributed prizes to the students who won in various competitions related to the clean India campaign.
He also reviewed various government schemes, including the integrated child development programme and asked the employees to ensure quality food to the children. He also advised the pregnant women to consume nutritious diet. Subsequently, he received petitions from the public.
