No alliance between BJP, AIADMK: Thambidurai
Lok Sabha deputy Speaker M Thambidurai on Monday said that having a smooth relationship with BJP doesn’t mean the AIADMK has an alliance with the party, while stressing that the AIADMK still remains to be an opposition party in the parliament.

Speaking to reporters at Viralimalai in Pudukkottai, Thambidurai said, the DMK has been planning to form alliance with the BJP and AIADMK has been maintaining just an administrative relationship. “We opposed the GST and tripple talaq in the parliament. If we were in an alliance, we would not have opposed these acts,” he stressed.
Pointing out that the AIADMK had faced the election alone in 2016 and won, Thambidurai said that the party which has been following the footsteps of Jayalalithaa will follow the same strategy. Meanwhile, he said that there is no power cut in the state and the government has adequate stocks of coal.
“As the deputy Speaker of the Lok Sabha, I have spoken to the Prime Minister to support the state to maintain coal stocks,” he said.
